5 Tips To Make Your Lash Extensions Last
Lash extensions can enhance your eyes and face by adding thickness, curl and length to your natural lashes. A premium set will have you waking up photo-ready every day and save you time on your morning routine because – finally – you get to skip the mascara.
As experts in lash extensions, we want to share our top tips with you on making your new lashes last.
Gently clean and comb
To keep your lashes looking lush, you need to keep them clean and comb them regularly. Prevent crisscrossing and damage by gently combing them through with a clean lash brush for about 10-15 seconds daily.
Avoid using oil-based facial creams or makeup remover as these can weaken the adhesive used to attach your lashes.
Keep your hands away
Playing with your lashes will only speed up the process of them falling out. Though it can be hard to keep your hands away from your face, it’s a necessary commitment if you want your lashes to last.
Unless cleaning or combing your lash extensions, the best thing you can do is simply leave them be.
Steer clear of mascara
Using mascara is a no-no when it comes to lash extensions. Your lashes are likely to fall out not only when applying mascara, but also when it comes time to wash the mascara off with makeup remover.
The point of mascara is to make your lashes look bolder and thicker, and to create a more defined frame for your eyes. The great thing about lash extensions is that they do all of this for you anyway – and without the hassle of applying and removing makeup.
Sleep on your back
Falling asleep with your face smushed into the pillow can be pretty comfortable, we admit. However, your lashes probably won’t love it as much as you do. With your face against the pillow all night, your lash extensions will be more likely to rub and fall out.
Try sleeping on your back (if you can!) to prevent unwanted lash loss during your snoozing hours.
Avoid getting them wet for the first 48 hours
Like oil-based facial products, water and steam can also weaken the adhesive used to attach your lash extensions – for the first 48 hours, at least. The glue needs time to set, and getting your lashes wet during this process won’t help.
Avoid getting your face wet in the shower or when removing makeup so that your lash extensions have the best chance of living a long and luscious life.
Book in regular maintenance appointments at your local beauty bar
Regular maintenance is key to ensuring a long-lasting set of lashes. By booking ongoing refill appointments at your favourite Melbourne beauty bar, your lashes will always be looking their best.
